How many time did you get lost and you do not find the exit?
We were walking and trying to read instructions for exit. We got lost but we stopped for a while and realized how stunning they are colors and shades on the wall, so we decided to observe more. It doesn’t matter if we got lost and we did’t find the group, we would have figured out something later.
This is always true after you got lost you will find again a positive way and your brain is ready to work again with rationality: it will be always a solution, or in our case a real exit from that tunnel. We were so fascinating in scanning the nature around us and the group moved so quickly and we suddenly were alone in the middle of the cave. Here a crossroads: going up or straight?
light and dark
Fortunately our friends were not so far, but out of the group as well because too busy to stare every single lave staphilite and every single light reflected on the wall, those are the most fascinating, they captured your attention and present you a great atmosphere of peace.
Light has always been the positive ingredient and dark the negative one. Often I need to turn the light on during the day even if it is no late yet and absolutely I don’t sleep with totally dark because it scares me. In this experience I saw for the first time the match between light and dark as an undisputed tie. We walked up and down, we followed people’s steps as the only guide in the dark but it didn’t scare. This time dark is not scary but necessary for appreciate the light and its shades. So light and dark are drawn in the best way possible by an artist named Jesús Soto (Fuerteventura, 1928 – Lanzarote, 2003). Probably he didn’t realize what amazing gift he was leaving to future generations, a unique place of artistic inspiration.
temple of music
A minute after we got lost, here a surprise: in the middle of the cave an auditorium or concert hall. That’s why we were able to find the right way, instinctively we followed the echo of rumors “Great acoustics!” I thought. The site has a capacity of approximately 400 people and you will find just in the middle a beautiful piano, a perfect objet for a musician. For music lovers I can define this place like a temple of music where you sit down in silence and try to imagine the guitar or violin’s chords come alive in a volcanic cave.
The last surprise of this amazing place is the most scenic one. You will find something magic too. And then here the exit, I told at the beginning, we always find a solution.
Where were we? We were in a volcanic cave formed 5000 years ago because the eruption of the Volcano of La Corona, it is better known as Cueva de los Verdes, one of the best place to visit in Lanzarote and absolutely having in your list of “things to see in Lanzarote”.
